Portrait nominee

The weight of expectations is a portrait of a young girl, growing up in a hard world.
Nowadays it's not easy for a child growing up in a world full of expectations.
We put a high pressure on them, they hardly can handle. That's why I choose to dress her up in black.
Lots of young people are dealing with a depression, because of the high pressure.
She is staring into nothing, no idea what the feature will brings her. No idea how to achieve her goal.
Children cannot be a child for long anymore. The innocence of a child is passing by too fast.
I wanna let people stand still by this message. Let children be children again and give them space to develop without any pressure.

My name is Isabella Robbeson and I grew up at the countryside of a small village in the Netherlands.
I always been attracted by nature, animals and the difference in people.
In 2021 I started with more serieus photography. Before that I photographed especially dog behavior, because I am a behavior therapist for dogs.

January 24th 2023 my life changed. I had a car accident because a car didn't saw me for the red light and due to that I have a Whiplash Associated Disorder. I was working as a caregiver at that time, but cannot work anymore. I decided to do something what makes me happy and which I still can do time by time, and started in 2023 at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam with education. I wanted to learn more and become more professional. I am photographing under Made by IR.

Last year won the Public Vote Award non-professional, Fashion, at the 1839 Awards and received Silver from the jury. Besides that, I had some more selected photo's in other competitions from the IAAP and IPA.

I like to be creative and making people smile, which makes me happy.
