A series of portraits, primarily of people I encountered on the streets of New York. It was the faces of New Yorkers that inspired me to explore the theme of universal beauty. A beauty that I have systematically, yet globally, called "American Beauty".
While walking around the city, I searched for faces that were somehow unique, original, beautiful, that attracted me, that lured me in. These were faces that my gaze drew from the crowd. And this wasn't easy, because when you're not searching, it seems like a large group of beautiful faces are passing you by. But when you're ready, because your hunting instincts are sharpened, it turns out that beauty is unique, rare, exceptional, and that you have to wait patiently for it.
Street portraits require very quick decisions; the choice of face, the selection of the frame, the parameters, the interaction—all this happens in a very short time and requires maximum artistic concentration.
