Street Photography nominee

This series, titled Parade, concentrates on and around the main thoroughfare of Royal Parade in Plymouth,UK. It’s a space where buses, shoppers, students, and workers intersect, creating a constant flow that reflects the city’s character. By returning to this stretch repeatedly, the photographs build a layered portrait of Plymouth’s public life. Royal Parade becomes more than a route through the centre; it becomes a stage where change, routine, and community overlap. The project ultimately documents a city negotiating its past and future in real time, using the rhythm of the street to reveal how Plymouth continues to redefine itself. Several post-war buildings are reaching the end of their lifespan, and their slow disappearance becomes part of of the visual narrative.

My name is Paul Carruthers I am a professional Street\Fine Art photographer based in Devon.

I picked up a camera about 35 years ago after a serious injury.

I used my images to improve my graphic design but soon realised people where talking about my photos held within my designs. So I decided to concentrate solely on my photography, reading and learning as much as I could.

I was approached by a Gallery in The Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool about thirty years ago to sell my work and the rest as they say is history.
