DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Robert Baliello was born in France and educated in Quebec. A self-taught photographer fluent in three languages, he began his journey with a camera in 1967. By 1970, he was immersed in the precision of medical photography, transitioning in 1975 to the creative possibilities of commercial studio work. His fascination with optical effects led him to master optical printers and explore audiovisual and video production.
In 1980, he founded a multimedia company, pioneering special effects photography through optical printing techniques and a custom-built prototype 3-axis motion control system. This innovative approach extended into print media, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
Today, Baliello continues to reimagine photographic abstraction, fusing large-format photography with contemporary hybrid techniques. His work bridges the analog past with the digital present, crafting intricate, multilayered compositions that challenge perception and redefine photographic expression.
