The picturesque city of Porto, in Northern Portugal, is an award-winning travel destination for its history, sights, food, welcoming people, and of course, the Port wine. Its peculiar architecture in the old town, classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, is what fascinates me the most! It is a perfect combination of colorful tall narrow buildings with baroque, gothic and medieval churches and monasteries.
The city attracts tourists and photographers around the world who dream of capturing the famous Dom Luis I Bridge and the colorful homes along the riverside. But it is during the evening time that I like to photograph it. As the night falls and the street lights are switched on, the city becomes even more charming. Its color palette changes from vibrant to golden, and the city beautifully shines against a light blue background.
The title is a play on the word gold in Portuguese, ouro, with the name of the city's famous river and vineyard region, the Douro.
