Les Logements Imaginaires (Series)
DESCRIPTION
“Who can still buy an apartment in Paris?” questioned some time ago a French newspaper. My series aims at analyzing the disproportioned housing costs in each neighborhood of the city. I decided to use stats to create a photographic analysis of the housing prices. I defined three pricing intervals according to the city mean values per m2: low (between 0 and 7500€), medium (between 7500 and 9900€) and high (more than 9900€). To describe each neighborhood I created an artificial court: from the basement to the top we find three different buildings, slightly flowing one into the other, representative of the pricing in the concerned area; their respective height varies according to the percentage of similar priced buildings in the area, as if it was a photographic histogram. Each histogram is then composed to look as an internal court. The variety of the architecture in the provided neighborhoods made it possible to build a set fulfilled of different styles, highly recognizable to anyone used to cross the city. The five images I selected are representative of the richest (7), the poorest (19) and three medium (5, 12, 17) neighborhoods in the city.
