Conceptual nominee

To create Made of Mineral and Vegetal, I collaborated with a make-up artist to experiment body painting in my self-portrait. I added very simple props to this mineral. Some ivy and some ferns to add vegetal. In this photograph I wanted to express the tension in the uncertain coexistence between man and his natural environment. The delicate balance of nature is too often ignored and damaged.
Experimenting new techniques such as body painting is a great experience for any artist, it helps us grow.

Amélie Berton is a French art lover, a self-taught photographer who resides in Brussels, where she can enjoy an inspiring multicultural environment.


She started photography to document and capture important events and personal moments.
Feeling the urge to materialize her thoughts she decided to explore staged portraiture thus creating visual concepts.
Her portraits are all somehow autobiographical, describing her personal feelings, often using photography as a graphic diary.
She attempts to create surreal worlds where the impossible becomes possible, to translate our complex but so very human feelings into photographic language.
Amélie composes magical portraits, using techniques to emulate paintings or cinema in which she finds her inspiration.
Her work has been published in numerous art and design reviews and exhibited in Paris, Brussels and Madrid.
