SPONCH
The fundamental 'building blocks of life' are sulfur, phosphorous, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen, which can be remembered by their combined first characters 'SPONCH'.
So far reproduction and natural selection are the only means for organisms to adapt to the changing world around them.
But nowadays mankind is able with CRISPR/Cas9 and other genome editing tools to alter ourselves and other organisms.
The original SPONCH building blocks are soon to be replaced by self created and assembled building blocks; the new artificial building blocks of life...
AUTHOR
Jean-Luc Truijens (1968) graduated at the Amsterdam Fotoacademie (photo academy) May 2014. After that his work was selected for the book 'New Photo Dutch Photography talent 2015". He won bronze at the renowned Dutch SO2014 photo contest.
The work of Jean-Luc Truijens is a study of color, form and abstraction.
Jean-Luc sees the naked human body as the ultimate form of beauty. He uses the body as a canvas for the projections out of his color/shape matrix and other geometric experiments.
The combination of abstract geometric shapes, rich saturated colors and organic body produces new and unexpected shapes.
