This Project serves as a common pot where photography and painting melts into one another. My intention is to use the sharpness of photography and the expression of painting to invent a new language to tell a story.
Since I was young, I have always had an existentialist way of seeing the life. That is why discovering the great masters of art, those that draw my attention most are those who possess the same mentality in their expression. The early work of Willem de Kooning, where the background always contaminated the portraits, the merciless treatment of the human body by Lucian Freud and the dissolved landscapes of Rothko are just some of my influences.
Following the same path, I present portraits where the figure is always swallowed by the background in an attempt to communicate to the viewer that everything that surrounds you at this very moment will outlive you.
For me as an artist, the need of telling a story is stronger than the technique I adopt to tell it. That is why I don’t believe in emphasizing the language used, but the idea to be conveyed.
