Breaking Glass is a dialog about my upbringing in Germany. It is about trauma, cultura and family based conditioning, identity and female experience. The series consists of silent, emotional self portraits and objects. The objects like the tulips, the coffee cup, the iron,.. are related to strong German rituals and traditions of daily live.
I moved from Germany to the USA in 2013 to pursue a Photography MFA wit a DAAD Award and the Director`s Scholarship from the International Center ofPhotography. I stayed in New York after completing my studies. The physical and time distance to my home country has allowed me to look at my own identity and cultural heritage questioning the cultural imprint on my identity.
