Nudes nominee

As women, we experience life in a way no man could ever imagine. All these feelings and emotions sometimes make it seem we are able to create different personalities. The media portraits this as something 'annoying', 'bad' and 'weak'. With this series I want to show that these shades of being a woman are strong and beautiful. Women are tough, sexy, complicated and creative and we should all embrace that.

I am interested in all human beings and societies. I am compelled by the different cultures, values, religions, and emotions behind actions. My special interest lies in the portrayal of deformation and imperfection in every way, so as to empathize the beauty of living creatures.

I am a 22-year-old creative with a passion for photography from Amsterdam. Doing what I love has always been my priority. Growing up, I spent my free time writing poems and drawing portraits. In my teens I committed myself to dancing and performing arts and was able to experience a different side of artistry. After I was forced to give up dancing, I decided to use my artisticity for a different purpose; to create honest, inspiring, and provocative concepts and images, and bring them to life with my camera as my tool.

Essentially, I strive to redefine what beauty really is. Beauty to me is dark, honest, crooked, naked, tough, real and everything that makes us who we are. Beauty to me is everything but society’s standards.
