Sands of time (Single)
DESCRIPTION
Kolmanskop is an abandoned mining town lost in the desert of Namibia. With this photograph, I wanted to pay a tribute to this particular place and its past. And for that, I have decided to underline the strength of nature that always takes back what's her, but also the ephemeral aspect of human constructions; symbolized here by the progress of sand and dunes through what remains of the city. These silted doors are for me the symbol of the inevitable passing of time that remind us that soon Kolmanskop won't be anymore and to enjoy it while it lasts. The light of the spot is also essential to me because it brings an atmosphere almost timeless and a strange sensation like it is unreal.
AUTHOR
Passionate forever by travels and photography, Romain Veillon is specialized in the urban exploration of our abandon heritage across the world; whether it is old castles, factories, hospitals or even churches. He immortalizes these places where time seems to be frozen and share with us the discovery of these incredible locations that the world have forgotten. Each photography owns its proper history and invite us to dive with him looking for these ghosts of the past. His work questions us on the connections between Man and his environment in a society where recent changes push us to interrogate about our former actions and their consequences today.
