DESCRIPTION
"There was dirt in the cut on my finger.
I was running from the sun."
For many, the nostalgia of chasing a dream west is still as apparent today as it was going back to the 1930's and before, Route 66 being a pipeline to these dreams. What about the people who live in these small towns along the historic "Mother Road?" Towns that relied on this tourism. The great highway isn't what it used to be with development of I40 and the current state of hurry to get where we need to go. "Running from the Sun" is a project is based in New Mexico, along "America's Main Street." A state so riddled with rural and desolate poverty, amidst a beautiful landscape that can't be ignored.

Parker Reinecker is a Documentary/Street Photographer currently based out of Atlanta Georgia. He is currently working in North Georgia, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and the American Southwest. Growing up in coal country, Scranton Pennsylvania, with a bar and a church on every corner, his work touches on the experience and struggle of growing up in the blue collar United States. Drawing inspiration from his own struggles with personal identity, crime and homelessness which can be receptive within the compositions of light and shadow, he documents the broken landscape of “Small Town America” and the conflict of poverty and beliefs, values and traditions, hope within the broken dreams and some touches of humor within it all.
