Burri i dheut ( man from the earth, like they call men living in the mountain) it is a travel made between 2008 and 2015 with people from Dukagiin Valley in an Albanian’s mountains and people from Shkoder’s periphery.
The final photos selection were taken with different machines, analogic and digital.
The series of images that make up the work are more than a hundred, most are portraits, the shape of photographing that I prefer and love.
This mountain, has an antique face, showing her self as a timeless place full of humanity, the periphery is an infernal place, like a trap luring mountain people and devouring them.
At my travel to Kossovo to photograph the independence day at February 2008, without even realise i found myself inside a house in Dukagiin.
Inside this home I found and old man, lonely, in a house that make you travel in time.
He make some fire for me, coffe and a also he build me tiny place to rest.
After finishing my work in Kossovo, i was still dreaming with the idea of coming back to this house and to the others ones i found climbbed uppon thats mountains.
I came back next year and stay there for a full winter, with some time and day after day people was starting to coming by to ask me to stay at their places, to share some time together and get to know eah other. I keep doing the same the nexts years, learning the language and buildnig some friendships that are still alive .
Each time i have to travel down into the city i was looking for this people from the mountain who where now living there, i wanted to see how their life have change after they move.
The envoirment i found it was a silence one , an anoying deep silence. Their faces where screaming desperetily for help, at the mountain they where strong and self confidents but at the city they found their selfs lost.
During eight years i left myself being care by this people, spending time between mountain and city.
Burri i dheut is a history about a tiny fagment of this people life where everything was about to change forever.
