I asked myself the following question: « Why taking pictures of people ? ».
Intuitively, I began to make self-portrait. Looking at photographies of the Bechers, sending me even further to Muybridge, I told myself that it could be interesting to use a similar method in the goal to record pictures of human beings from all angles. A memory of my childhood came to me: an old documentary in which scientists studied the way to decompose movement. Thanks to this memory and the love I have for Cinema, I got the idea to create through those grids what I call a « poesy of movement ». Verse after verse, like a composer I choose those pieces of humanity looking for a specific rhythm and harmony. The models are not asked to pose in a certain way or another. I prefer to let them be and ask them to play simple movements with their body or stand up still. Those natural movements allow to give birth to this poesy mentioned earlier.
This work began with my concerns and questions and keeps evolving with individuals I take picture from. Here, photography is an opened window on « the other ».
