Dear John, hope you’re well! As promised, here are a few postcards from Japan. My selection might surprise you, but I wanted to include something different, atypical, strange and intriguing. It won’t be the Japan you see in movies or on TV. I visited Osaka first and stayed for a few weeks. The trains criss-cross the city in a dizzying frenzy, like a maze run amok. Studying the maps makes your head spin, so I walked instead. I found a guy stranded on a telephone pole, not sure what he was doing there. An old blind lady (or so it seems) in her pajamas surprised me in front of her house. There was also a geisha walking around in the streets, I saw here face and I saw a composite of her on a wall – crazy!
In the capital, I stayed close to Shinjuku (not the one where you see people swarming like ants, that’s Shibuya) and woke up early (around 5am) as the sun blazed through my windows and woke me from my slumber – I walked and I walked....Anyways, hope to see you soon!
